Jesus Christ Antiphonetis
Holy Church of Protato - Karyes
This miraculous icon of Christ the Almighty has the name "Antiphonetis", because he "opposed" to a priest during the divine liturgy. A very old monk of the Skete of the karyes told the hieromonk of his retinue to make the divine liturgy on the Holy Thursday more quickly, so that he could receive communion, because he could not wait until the standard nine o'clock.
The hieromonk, however, procrastinated in the temple, so as not to violate the Standard. ῞When he arrived at his slow pace to worship the con of Christ, he heard a voice from it, which advised him to shorten the holy service, in order the sick monk receive the holy communion. This icon was transferred to the Church of the Protato and placed in the sacred Vima, to the right of the Synthronon, where the icon of the "Axion Esti" is located.
