Holy Monastery of Zografou
The second miraculous icon of Saint George, which exists in the Zografou Monastery and is placed on the corresponding column of the left choir, comes from Arabia. The icon arrived by sea at the port of the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi, where many flocked from all the monasteries to worship the icon.
Although it was natural for the Monastery of Vatopedi to keep it, the common desire prevailed and it was decided to place the icon in a wild mule and let the icon be transferred to where the saint thrives. The animal finally stood with its sacred load on a hill North-West and opposite the Zografou Monastery, and thus everyone was informed of the well-being of Saint George.
On the hill, where the animal stood with the holy icon, a cell and a church were built in the name of Saint George. During the feast of St. George, this icon is lit from the catholicon to the hill.
