Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra

At the beginning of June 1974, when Hieromonk Vissarion was the steward of the Monastery, one of the empty jars in the Monastery's Container was found filled with clarified oil. On November 22, 1989, one day after the feast of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, the then hierodeacon Chariton, entering the monastery to clean the empty jars, in order to receive the oil of the new year, found two of them in the inner compartment full with pure oil.

Shocked, the potter immediately informed the Elder Emilianos about the incident, and he then communicated it to the entire brotherhood as a sign of the Virgin Mary's care for the needs of the monks. '

The icon of the Virgin Mary in the form of 'Odegitria', which existed from long ago in the Monastery, was already transferred from the first miracle of 1974 to the katholiko, main church, and was placed on the left column opposite the icon of Saint Simon, to receive the daily thanksgivings of the monks. According to the inscription, it dates back to 1738 and comes from the cell of Saint George of Kalathas, part of the Monastery in Karyes.
