Holy Monastery of Karakalou

This holy icon is placed in the right shrine of the katholikon church of the Monastery. This is an old icon that has been painted over. According to tradition, a fire that erupted in the katholikon Church of the Monastery incinerated everything that was there. Only this iicon of the 'Holy' Apostles Peter and Paul was preserved unharmed in the ashes of the katholiko and was recovered by the Fathers of the Monastery. Traces of the fire can be seen on the back of this miraculous icon.
