Shrimps stew (Giouvetsi)
Orthodox monks usually make stew shrimps or as they called it in Greece giouvetsi during Lent. This dish, apart from being very tasty, is also nutritious as it is rich in proteins. Try this summer recipe from Mount Athos and be surprised by its unique taste. This dish can be accompany with bread from Mount Athos, or any other bread you prefer.
We wash our vegetables and chop them.
We sauté the onion.
We prepare the sauce with everything else.
We place the shrimps in a pan and pour the sauce over them.
We bake in a medium oven, until the liquids are saved.
If we're preparing the dish without fasting restrictions, we can enhance its flavor by substituting 2-3 tbsp of butter for the oil and incorporating 150 gr of grated cheese into the crust.
