Tahini Sauce
Here in Mount Athos, we frequently prepare various sauces to complement our meals. One such sauce is the fasting tahini sauce. Not only is this sauce delicious, but it's also highly nutritious and filling, making it particularly valuable during fasting. Try making this fasting sauce yourself and enjoy it alongside your favorite dishes.
In a bowl, we whisk together tahini, water, lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt.
We continue whisking until the ingredients are well combined and the sauce has a smooth consistency.
We taste the sauce and adjust the salt or lemon juice according to our preference.
If the sauce is too thick, we can add more water gradually until we reach the desired consistency.
We garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
We can use it immediately or refrigerate for later.
It is good to put the sauce in the fridge for a while, as the flavors develop more.
This tahini sauce is versatile and can be used as a dip, drizzled over roasted vegetables, or as a dressing for salads.
