No-phyllo sweet pie with mizithra cheese
Here in Mount Athos, we craft a delightful no-phyllo sweet pie with mizithra cheese. This scrumptious dessert is both easy to prepare and bake. Consider trying this dessert on days of catalysis when the consumption of dairy products and eggs is permitted.
We crush the mizithra well in a bowl.
We add the eggs, honey and sugar and mix well.
We slowly add the flour, stirring constantly.
We butter an ovenproof dish and sprinkle it with a little flour.
We pour the mixture into the dish and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about half an hour, until golden brown.
When the dessert has cooled we sprinkle with cinnamon.
If we don't like cinnamon, we can sprinkle with a little rose-water.
