Vegetable sticks in the oven
An easy and quick snack suitable for fasting days but also for the whole year. Try this delicious recipe that the Orthodox monks make here on Mount Athos, either as an evening snack or for your child's taper. A recipe that young and old alike will love and an ideal option suitable for vegans as well.
We wash our vegetables well.
We dry them well.
We cut them into sticks or strips.
We spread a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
We add our vegetables.
We sprinkle with olive oil.
We season with salt and pepper.
We bake in a preheated oven at 200-250 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden.
We can also use other vegetables.
We can accompany our vegetables with some of our fasting ointments.
The portions may vary depending on how many vegetables we will use.
We don't cut our vegetable sticks too thin because they will burn.
