Hosafi
Hosafi is a traditional sweet that we usually make here on Mount Athos. This sweet looks like compote and according to tradition, it is consumed after the three days of Great Lent. If you are a fan of compote then you will certainly want to indulge in this fasting dessert crafted on Mount Athos.
We put all the ingredients from the night before in a pot and fill it with water to cover the ingredients.
We let them soak overnight.
The next day we boil the ingredients in the same water for about 40 minutes.
When the syrup thickens the Hosafi is ready.
We can eat it hot or cold, either alone or with yogurt or ice-crem.
