Here on Mount Athos we usually make Greek tea or Mountain tea. This beverage has antioxidant properties that help fight stress. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps relaxation since it does not contain caffeine. You should try this recipe from Mount Athos step by step and be amazed by its unique taste.

Ingredients
Execution Method

If we have access to fresh Greek Mountain Tea, we harvest it and allow it to dry. Otherwise, we can purchase dried Greek Mountain Tea from specialty stores.

We bring about 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot.

Once the water is boiling, we add 1-2 teaspoons of dried Greek Mountain Tea to the pot.

We adjust the quantity based on our desired strength.

We reduce the heat and let the tea simmer for about 5 minutes, with closed lid.

Then, we strain the tea to separate the liquid from the tea leaves.

We can use a fine mesh sieve or a tea strainer.

Tips

Greek Mountain Tea pairs particularly well with honey, adding a touch of natural sweetness.

We can add a slice of lemon to our tea for a refreshing twist.

When boiling the tea, it would be good to tilt the lid so that its flavor is more intense.
