The icon of Virgin Mary Brefokratoussa is the creation of the iconographer Emmanuel Tzanes, an exponent of the Cretan School. It was created in 1651 AD and is kept in the Holy Monastery of Presentation of the Theotokos, in Corfu. It symbolizes hope and protection and is celebrated on August 15.
