Aged icon of Virgin Mary of Vladimir, crafted on canvas on natural wood, with colored background and silver halo locally gilded with European Crystals.
It is one of the most important miraculous icons in Russia. It was built in Constantinople in the 12th century (1131) and was sent as a gift to the Duke of Kiev. In 1395, during Tamerlane's invasion, it was taken to Moscow where it is kept to this day, in the Tretyakov Gallery. She is considered the patron saint of Russia.
