A Plexiglas Icon Presenting “ Mary Tricheroussa”

This remarkable Orthodox icon is a serene expression of faith and prayer making it a timeless piece and an ideal gift. The original icon belonged to Saint Ioannis Damascenos (John Damascene). When his cut hand was miraculously re-attached by Theotokos, he placed on the icon a silver hand as a votive offering. In the 12th century the icon was donated to the Monastery of Chilandari in Mount Athos, where it is kept ever since. Due to the votive offering the miraculous icon is called “ Mary Tricheroussa”, i.e “Theotokos with Three Hands”. A copy is placed in a Plexiglas base to enhance the clarity of the artwork.
