Saint Socrates - Lithography on Wood

This fine oval icon of Saint Socrates is depicted in accordance to the tradition of Orthodox iconography. A lithograph copy is placed on artificial wood, the upper side has a curved shape adds a touch of elegance.
Saint Socrates the Elder lived in the 3rd century AD, during the reign of Alexander Severus. As a priest, he collaborated with the pious Theodoti to help many people to know and live faith in Christ. His martyrdom took place in Ankara. His memory is commemorated every year on October 21.
