Saint Olympias (or Olympiada), from a wealthy Byzantine family, was made a deaconess by Patriarch Nektarios after the death of her husband. She devoted herself to monasticism and founded her own monastery. Her holiness was so great that Saint John Chrysostomos sent her 17 letters from his exile. She died in exile in AD 407.
