This fine oval icon of Saint Harikleia is depicted in accordance to the tradition of Orthodox iconography. A lithograph copy is placed on artificial wood, the upper side has a curved shape adds a touch of elegance.
Saint Harikleia is one of the 40 Holy Virgins who lived in Adrianople during the time of Emperor Licinius. The local ruler, knowing that they were Christians, arrested them and forced them to worship pagan statues. They resisted and endured horrific torture. The memory of Saint Harikleia is commemorated every year on September 1st.
