Theotokos Ecclesiarisa
Holy Monastery of Hilandar
The Virgin Mary Ecclesiarisa, or the icon who chastised the ecclesiarchi (supervisor monk in the church), received this name from the monastic teaching of the monk, who, because it was difficult due to the current of the wind to light the candle in front of this icon, became impatient and abandoned his duty, but was punished by the Virgin Mary and with her blows he fell to the ground, where he was found unconscious by the brothers of the Monastery. The icon is located on the north wall, at the exact point where the corresponding gate leads from Liti to the katholikon (main church) of the Monastery.
