Holy Monastery of Konstamonitou
In the south-west column of the katholikon, church of the Monastery, behind the despotic throne is today the miraculous icon of the Antiphonitria. This is associated with the following miracle. On the 1st of August 1020, the eve of the feast of the collection of the holy relics of the holy First Martyr Stephen, the potter Agathon, who when he later received the great monk schema was named Zacharias, was praying in front of this icon for the lack of olive oil and other necessities.
Tired of fasting and praying, he fell into a trance and heard a voice from the icon, which told him not to be sorry for the shortcomings and sufferings, because all these will cease with her care. ῞When he came to his senses, he saw a jar of 300 kg oil in the container, under this icon, filled with oil, and the other storehouses of the Monastery filled with food. He immediately announced the event to the abbot and the brothers who kept an all-night vigil.
