Saint Nikolaos was born in the 3rd century AD. in Patara, in the region of Lycia. He was Archbishop of Myra and participated in the First Ecumenical Council. During his life, but also after his death in 330 AD, many miracles are attributed to him. He is known as the patron saint of sailors and is commemorated every year on December 6.
