Saint Stamatios - Lithography on Wood

This fine oval icon of Saint Stamatios is depicted in accordance to the tradition of Orthodox iconography. A lithograph copy is placed on artificial wood, the upper side has a curved shape adds a touch of elegance.
The Holy Neomartyr Stamatios, from a village in Volos, went with other Christians to Constantinople to complain about injustices against them. However, he was slandered, resulting in his imprisonment and torture being ordered. He remained steadfast in his faith and was eventually martyred by beheading. He celebrates on August 16.
