This fine oval icon of Saint Procopius the Great Martyr is depicted in accordance to the tradition of Orthodox iconography. A lithograph copy is placed on artificial wood, the upper side has a curved shape adds a touch of elegance.
Saint Procopius the Great Martyr lived in Jerusalem during the time of Diocletian. His father was a Christian, while his mother was a pagan. When she discovered his Christian faith, she denounced him to the emperor. Procopius was horribly tortured and martyred in 303 AD. His memory is commemorated on July 8.
