This fine oval icon of Saint Matrona the Blind is depicted in accordance to the tradition of Orthodox iconography. A lithograph copy is placed on artificial wood, whose arched top adds a touch of elegance.
Saint Matrona was born in 1881 in Russia, blind from birth. From an early age she had a deep faith and was regular in the Church. At 17, she also lost the ability to walk, but remained ambulatory. With her prayer, she helped those who visited her and performed miracles. She passed away peacefully in 1952. It celebrates on May 2nd.
