This fine oval icon of Saint Iphigenia is depicted in accordance to the tradition of Orthodox iconography. A lithograph copy is placed on artificial wood, whose arched top adds a touch of elegance.
Saint Iphigenia, born in Pontus in 53 AD, grew up in a pagan family but converted to Christianity at a young age. During the persecution of Christians under Nero, she was arrested at the age of 15 by the Governor Marco and tortured. Her steadfast faith led Marco to repent and ask for her forgiveness. It celebrates on November 16.
