The handmade “Kivotos” vigil lamp wicks offer a simple and highly practical solution for the daily lighting of an Orthodox vigil lamp.

 Each wick is made with cotton thread impregnated with paraffin and comes attached to its own individual cork float. It is ready to use, with no need to thread, adjust or attach a separate wick to a floating holder. The lightweight cork keeps the wick floating steadily on the surface of the oil, helping prevent it from sinking or turning over.

No water or salt needs to be added to the vigil lamp, as the wick is placed directly on the surface of the oil. Each piece is intended for single use and is suitable for one fill of the vigil lamp. After use, the entire piece can be removed and replaced with a new one, without having to handle a separate oil-soaked and burnt wick.

This makes replacement faster, easier and considerably cleaner.
